Live triple LP set issued in the wake of ELP's success with "Brain Salad Surgery". The original Manticore vinyl edition came in a special deluxe gatefold package with die-cut ELP flaps inside to hold the records.
More simply packaged vinyl reissues exist, and as a 2xCD set. Also a 2xreel to reel set.

  I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you appreciate prog rock, this live album is a must have. It's like a three-ring circus of energy and beautifully executed arrangements. The technical ability of these three guys is considerable.

  It's 3 discs so they weren't really kidding about the show that never ends.

• I know people like to crap on the sound quality, but I think this is one fine-sounding record. The record sides being arranged for automatic players is a bit of a bother though. I was quite disappointed Tarkus and Karn Evil 9 were on seperate discs.

• 

  Great music with a terrible sound. The better the equipment you play it on, the worse the sound. Drums are sometimes lost in the mix. Bass is boomy with no definition. If you like keyboards in the forefront of everything, this is the album for you! Definitely needs some overdubbing in the studio. Live recording with mics does ELP a disservice...

  Naturally, as with any other version of this album, the musicianship on display is on a level no other band could hope to reach before or after ELP, and this is an incredible listen from start to finish. The recording has been cleaned up pretty well for this release, but there remain some of the same old dropouts, feedback, distortion, and noise that have plagued this live album since its original 1974 release. That's not to say the work isn't impressive, it really is probably as good as it gets for this particular album, but it's a shame the original tapes are such garbage.

• Masterpiece, best concert ever! ELP forever! "Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Ladies And Gentlemen"

• 

  D Side shows a cut that seems to be a unique aspect of this release. After the end of track D2 ["Take A Pebble (Conclusion)"], Keith Emerson says "Thank you very much, cheers", right after that there is a fade-out, so his "Wales is famous for many things[...]" talk is completely removed, then track D3 ["Jeremy Bender / The Sheriff (Medley)"] starts with a fade-in that cuts its first notes.

• My copy is just like this one (an MO pressing) but the address is the 1841 Broadway. I don't see that variation here, but maybe I missed it.

• 

  Is anyone's 2nd side and 6th side label switched? Mine has everything, except side six is on the other side of one and side two is on the other side of 5. Also, the love from Andy & Arun is on the other side of the Side 1 (where side 6 label is).
