Torticollis is an acute dystonia that involves muscle spasms of the head and neck. Torticollis develops within 1 to 5 days after beginning therapy with a conventional antipsychotic. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome can occur during the first week of therapy but often occurs later during therapy.
