Originaltext

Du hast uns, Herr, von allen Straßen Als wir im Finsternis der Heiden saßen, as we sat in the darkness of the Gentiles Und, wie das Licht die Luft Belebet und erquickt, and as light enlivens and quickens the air, Uns auch erleuchtet und belebet, so you enlivened and quickened us, Ja mit dir selbst gespeiset und getränket with your very self you gave us food and drink Und deinen Geist geschenket, and bestowed your spirit on us Der stets in unserm Geiste schwebet. which constantly makes our spirit soar.
